Even though I feel like an outsider here, as I’m neither black nor white, I really enjoy reading your article. I happened to also have been in interracial relationships with white men and I have to say much of what you described is common among all kinds of relationships involving difference races. I have to concur with some of the comments here that the bias/comments against the white men and us from our own communities are everywhere and frankly quite upsetting to me. I have been made to feel guilty for not dating Asian guys (mostly from Asian men) because they somehow feel that white men stole their women. On the other hand, white people have given Asian men looks if they are dating white women with the nuance of “I wonder how he managed to score a white girl.” All of that are really unnecessarily hateful and shallow. I like how your article is promoting discussions of important issues in racial differences. I’m not sure if we’ll ever reach a point where race is not a factor in dating, but I surely hope that we’ll be more understanding and respectful of each other regardless of who we date.
