Excellent point! Growing up in China, we had even more ridiculous dress and grooming codes in schools — girl weren’t even allowed to have long hair at some point in thousands of schools across the country because school administrators thought that their beautiful long hair would cause too much attention among the boys. What a load of bullshit! I especially despise dress code as a creative person — life is too short to wear something we don’t like. We should teach our children not to be rigid and think like everybody else. Most successful people are rebels — the fact that they don’t want to be like everyone else makes them take bold steps to achieve their dreams. Kudos to your courage to challenge the status quo and teaching your daughter to express herself in whatever way she sees fit.
