So sorry you have been subjected to these horrible verbal abuse while in Korea. I was there for the summer in 2011. I was shocked by the sheer number of plastic surgery clinics on every corner of the streets — they have more clicnics than coffee shops! I felt incredibly unattractive growing up in Asia. After moving to America, I was able to slowly rebuild my confidence. Although Korea is beautiful country, I did not like this part of their culture. I think more foreign teachers need to let the kids know that it’s incredibly rude and hurtful to say something like that to anyone. It’s not their fault that they have been influenced by the culture, but more of us should speak up. Change is difficult, but it will never happen without anyone trying. Thank you for sharing your story and being so vulnerable. I hope you continue to do well in your journey to healing!
