Thank you for covering this important topic. Growing up in China, I never had real sex education from school or from my parents. The only thing we learned from a “wellness” class was taught by our chemistry teacher, who told the girls that the first time hurts. My parents avoided talking about it at all cost. They still think that sex is not something you should do before marriage and it is only done for reproductive purpose. So how did I learn about sex? From a biology textbook sent to me by a British pen pal I had when I was in middle school! I’m extremely concerned about the growing conservatism in my home country and how new generations of women will be affected by it. I hope these women find a way to work outside of the censored system and bring real sex education to China (May be a big dream but we have to start somewhere).
