Thank you for your advice, Michelle. I think it’s very true that you need to be open to try dating people not exactly your type. I did in fact date someone not my type after ending the most horrible relationship. I enjoyed it for a while but then it turned out that the things I thought I could put up with actually ended our relationship. I am the woman you described: perpetually single and given up but still really wants someone. I do have a big career goal right now and working crazy towards it — not sure how to even go about finding a partner anymore because I’ve never had a relationship when I tried to find someone — they always show up themselves (not very frequently obviously). The only thing I think I can do right now is to maintain active in meeting people for purposes outside of dating and see what happens. (Dating apps have failed me for almost a decade.)
